Update: Yves Saint Laurent Rouge pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain – Rebel Nudes – 106 Beige Anarchist

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain - Rebel Nudes - 106 Beige AnarchistUnlike what it looks like at first (bronze or brown with sparkles), Yves Saint Laurent Rouge pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain in 106 Beige Anarchist is a copper mixed with pink, resulting in a nude pink hue. It has a lighter, yet still raspberry scent that is present in 103 Pink Taboo. The colour is a lot more natural looking and wearable than the latter, I find. Where Taboo is bright, Anarchist is subdued. It is still a very flattering colour for both warm and cool skinned women. If I had to choose, I would definitely go with Anarchist.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain – Rebel Nudes

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain - Rebel NudesAfter the positive experience with Lancome Gloss in Love, I was excited to try another designer lip product. Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain – Rebel Nudes are said to have the shine of a gloss, the colour intensity of lipstick, and the hold of a stain. This promise was kept!

The Rouge a Levres feels natural on the lips. I prefer to deposit some product first with the wand, and then spread the gloss using my fingertip. This gives a natural, stained look. Using the wand on its own gives a garish burst of colour and it does not spread product as well and as easily as using fingers does. For a high wattage look, I suggest using the finger to cover lips evenly, and then applying more colour with the wand for shine and intensity. The Glossy Stain also provides some hydration, so lips feel comfortable. The colour and moisturized feel are both more resistant to removal by food and drink when compared to other lip products, such as TokyoMilk Dark Femme Fatale Collection Lip Elixir and Buxom Full-On Lip Stick.

In terms of colours, I tried 103 Pink Taboo, a bright, watermelon pink with a raspberry scent. It will likely be flattering on most skin tones, especially used as a stain. Used in greater quantities as a gloss, it is more suitable to warm-skinned ladies.

The texture, longevity, and colour of Rebel Nudes, as tested with 103 Pink Taboo, proved impressive. Non-sticky, moisturized, and natural feeling lips bring out a smile. Highly recommended.
